Anthony perl: (00:00:03) Welcome to Biz Bites, brought to you by Commtogether helping businesses like yours build their brand through telling amazing stories to engage and grow audiences on multiple platforms.
Anthony perl: (00:00:18) Well, hello everyone and welcome to a special edition of Biz Bites.
Anthony perl: (00:00:23) And the reason I say special edition is because the guest that I have today is coming all the way from the other part of the world in Indiana in the US.
Anthony perl: (00:00:33) But he is the founder of a well, an AI tool that I’ve been using now for several months that I think is just getting better and better all the time.
Anthony perl: (00:00:44) And I wanted to share that with everyone.
Anthony perl: (00:00:46) So I’m going to welcome Eric Xiao from Laxis.
Anthony perl: (00:00:51) Eric, welcome to the program.
Eric Xiao: (00:00:53) Thank you so much, Anthony, for this opportunity to talk on your show.
Anthony perl: (00:00:56) It’s fantastic to have you here and and just for the for the listeners.
Anthony perl: (00:01:03) I understand Laxis of course, because I’ve been using it for a while, but and why don’t you explain what the tool is and how it works?
Eric Xiao: (00:01:11) Sure.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:12) Lexus is AI to pilot for customer fitting professionals.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:16) So we do automatic notating during our online meetings whether it’s Zoom or Google meet or fiscal Webex.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:24) We also have mobile app to take meeting notes during your in person meetings.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:28) After each meeting, our AI can generate customer requirement follow up emails.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:34) For podcasters, we can also generate show notes, newsletters, blog post and based on the conversation.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:40) We also have a chat bot where you can ask questions and get answers based on the conversation.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:46) And for business customers, we also have CRM integration where we can automatically update your customer information right after each meeting automatically.
Eric Xiao: (00:01:57) And for team leaders, we also have a team channel for the team leaders to reveal the customer conversation and team channel and give feedback.
Eric Xiao: (00:02:05) So that is what we can do as of today.
Anthony perl: (00:02:08) It is amazing.
Anthony perl: (00:02:10) I’ve watched the growth of Laxis myself just in the last six months, and that in itself has been extraordinary.
Anthony perl: (00:02:17) And I suppose that’s one of the common threads of AI tools.
Anthony perl: (00:02:20) I mean, realistically only a year ago I suppose we were no one was really talking that much about it.
Anthony perl: (00:02:27) Then all of a sudden ChatGPT launches in a big way and and that’s completely changed the landscape in people’s thinking, hasn’t it?
Anthony perl: (00:02:35) But but that’s not something.
Anthony perl: (00:02:36) This hasn’t come about just because of ChatGPT.
Anthony perl: (00:02:40) This has been a little bit more advanced than than than that just reacting to that launch.
Eric Xiao: (00:02:47) So we have been using a long time ago.
Eric Xiao: (00:02:49) Two years ago we built our own AI model to generate meeting summaries.
Eric Xiao: (00:02:54) Last year, probably last summer, we were early adopters using Open AIG, PT2, and later GPT 3.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:04) So long before ChatGPT becomes popular, we were using Open ASAPIS as our as our foundation and we do some fun toning on top of that to provide better content on the conversation space.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:19) And we are actually one of the first in our one of the first start doing chat bots on top of people’s conversations.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:28) We launched our chat bot.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:29) We caught next chat almost the same week as ChatGPT.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:34) The difference is ChatGPT answer questions based on Internet information and we answer questions based on your previous conversation with your customer or with your or your interviews or your any other conversation you had.
Eric Xiao: (00:03:48) So that’s how we have been utilising large than model in the past and yeah that’s what we have been doing so far.
Anthony perl: (00:03:56) It’s fascinating because I first bought chat.
Anthony perl: (00:04:02) Sorry, bought Laxis when I was looking for something to help with transcript and basic summary of what had what had happened in a particular meeting.
Anthony perl: (00:04:14) And the AI has come into it since then and it it’s developed and developed as as we’ve gone along the way and it’s been fascinating watching that and and seeing how how great it is.
Anthony perl: (00:04:26) So just for from a listeners point of view to understand it, when you go into Laxis after it’s recorded, your notes, the audio and the text are tied up.
Anthony perl: (00:04:39) It provides you with a drop down menu with a whole bunch of options for the kinds of summaries that you want to generate as well as obviously the full transcript of it.
Anthony perl: (00:04:47) And then of course there is, as Eric was saying, there is the AI tool.
Anthony perl: (00:04:52) So you can start to ask questions in relation to what what the meeting is that you’ve had.
Anthony perl: (00:04:59) And those things are absolutely invaluable because anyone that’s been to a meeting and says oh wow, someone said something really amazing at that time.
Anthony perl: (00:05:10) So you can troll through to find the recording or or hope that you know roughly where it is and try and sync that up.
Anthony perl: (00:05:18) Or you can literally go and say ask.
Anthony perl: (00:05:20) Eric said something about whatever it was and it will tell you what exactly has been said and that is a massive time saver within itself.
Eric Xiao: (00:05:30) Yeah.
Eric Xiao: (00:05:31) Thank you kind of work.
Eric Xiao: (00:05:33) So based on our customer feedback, on average Lexus can save them more than four hours per week from taking meeting notes and updating CRM or writing any content after each meetings.
Eric Xiao: (00:05:46) So I think that’s the most, I think that’s the value we created for customers.
Anthony perl: (00:05:51) Yeah.
Anthony perl: (00:05:51) And I and I and I know that I’m probably scratching the surface in terms of what it can do for my own business.
Anthony perl: (00:06:00) So just to give again to give everyone perspective, I have LAX is set to permanently come into meetings with me.
Anthony perl: (00:06:10) So automatically when I’m in Zoom it will start recording and of course you have the option to not include that.
Anthony perl: (00:06:18) We we actually discussed I think Eric and I both have our LAX S tools in this particular podcast which is which is fun and that and that’s important as well that you can have multiples in there.
Anthony perl: (00:06:28) One of the things that I love, by the way, is that it lets you rename the tool and you’ve come up with the very obvious one, which I think is whether he’s fine.
Anthony perl: (00:06:38) If I’m looking here on my screen and I see it says Eric’s assistant, and I know that that assistant is of course the AI tool.
Anthony perl: (00:06:46) I asked my team to come up with the name for the tool and being that I have a lot of people who are younger than me, their musical tastes are a little bit different to mine.
Anthony perl: (00:06:59) So they all realized that they were Taylor Swift fans and so they came up with the name of Taylor Tron being the being there.
Anthony perl: (00:07:06) I had to add AI on to the end of it because people are kept asking who is this Taylor Tron person and why won’t they show their face.
Anthony perl: (00:07:13) So but I think that’s, but I think it’s interesting though that you do personalize it and in fact I I think even though we’ve had a bit of fun with our name, you seeing it as an assistant and I and I what that’s what I wanted to ask you was how do you view the tool that you’ve been building, What is the premise for the way that you’re built it and continue to build it?
Anthony perl: (00:07:35) Is it literally to be an assistant?
Eric Xiao: (00:07:38) Yes, so so far our system is in this meeting site, right?
Eric Xiao: (00:07:43) Helping to take note even you are not here.
Eric Xiao: (00:07:45) For example, if you have a meeting that you are late, Lexus will still be there taking all the notes for you.
Eric Xiao: (00:07:51) And after meeting is it works like a real assistant, right?
Eric Xiao: (00:07:55) You don’t need to take any note, just ask like this, what’s the actual item after each meeting.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:00) So what does Anson said what is next step?
Eric Xiao: (00:08:04) Next is to answer all those questions like a real assistant though.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:07) So far, let’s just assist you in the meeting and post the meeting settings.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:12) Going forward, we plan to add additional functionalities for example, but sales people or BT people.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:18) We can add additional BS assistant functionality for the outreach to our customers, help you schedule a meeting.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:25) Those are our road map in 2024 and essentially in another six months or a year Nexus will be fully automated to support customer facing professional or to assist outreach customers.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:40) Schedule a meeting, attend the meeting to take meeting notes and providing follow up emails, contents and even provide some insight after your conversation.
Eric Xiao: (00:08:51) So we will be a fully automated assistant for the revenue teams or we can call it the customer facing professional.
Anthony perl: (00:08:57) It is phenomenal what it can do.
Anthony perl: (00:09:01) I’m intrigued.
Anthony perl: (00:09:02) How does you know when you’re going down that path and you’re starting to become more of that integrated assistant?
Anthony perl: (00:09:08) How does it learn about the person that it’s working for?
Anthony perl: (00:09:13) How does your because so I’m thinking of the tool in in perspective of saying OK I’ve got a meeting it comes into into that and I’m thinking of it as an individual one by one meeting but you’re starting to think of it more in terms of an accumulation of information as well.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:30) Exactly, exactly.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:33) Some of the customers, certainly.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:35) There’s a few different type of customer.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:38) For example, you use Access for podcast, which is a perfect use case.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:42) Some of the customers they are sales PDS, they use access to have a multiple meetings with one customer and sometimes use Access for the conversation with multiple customers.
Eric Xiao: (00:09:54) We can provide these a series of pull up emails with one customer and we can also provide insight across all their customers.
Eric Xiao: (00:10:01) For example, what when what they say about their competitors, what is complain about the product, what they need from those customers.
Eric Xiao: (00:10:10) We can provide insights and generate counter across all customers as well.
Anthony perl: (00:10:16) It is.
Anthony perl: (00:10:18) It constantly amazes me where this can go in terms of linking to CRMS.
Anthony perl: (00:10:23) Is that something where at the moment it’s it’s linked to particular CRMS?
Anthony perl: (00:10:27) Is it, is it going to be open to any?
Anthony perl: (00:10:30) Because I think we all know that there’s.
Anthony perl: (00:10:32) I don’t know exactly how many CRMS there are out in the world, but it seems everyday I hear about another one.
Anthony perl: (00:10:37) So, and I have no doubt that that the one that I’m using particularly probably isn’t known to most of the audience out there.
Anthony perl: (00:10:44) So how how easy is it to integrate with a different CRM?
Eric Xiao: (00:10:49) So far, we have integrated with us HubSpot and Fieldspot the top 2 popular CRM systems and we do got a request from our customers on other CRM systems.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:01) I would say first of all, what we can do on the integration is after each meeting we will update with a note and the note includes meeting summary, customer requirement, action items and a link to LEXIS audio file.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:17) So that’s what we do on the note side, if there’s an option inside LEXIS and let’s if the customer choose to enable that option, next is to auto automatically task instead of CRM including Hotspot and Salesforce.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:31) But that’s what we have been doing today and when people come to us asking for like a new CRM, essentially we can do that in a couple of weeks because we are so familiar with how to work with Hotspot and Salesforce.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:47) Most other CRMS have a similar structure, like a contact, Notes and tasks.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:53) Certainly if there’s some special requirements we need to begin to it.
Eric Xiao: (00:11:58) But for now, in general other CRMS should take us as long as they have.
Eric Xiao: (00:12:03) The standard API should take us a few weeks to complete.
Anthony perl: (00:12:08) Well I’ll tell you what we’ll be having a chat after this podcast and I’ll be telling you which CRM I’ve got and and looking to tie that up as well because it’s that is the interesting thing.
Anthony perl: (00:12:19) So as I’m speaking to you at the moment, Eric and and I mentioned this in actually in a previous podcast that I’m between assistants, unfortunately my assistant was was unwell and had to and had to leave and I’m currently recruiting someone.
Anthony perl: (00:12:35) But what’s really interesting is, is that I’ve found that all of those things that you just mentioned are the pain points for me personally.
Anthony perl: (00:12:46) We’re remembering to write the notes up, remembering to put in the follow up tasks, remembering to schedule the next meeting and then when you get to that point and a good example, I had someone just yesterday who I’d met with say to me I’m actually going to be away for three months.
Anthony perl: (00:13:04) Can we meet at at this time, Which is fine, but the chances that I will remember exactly all of that information that we had discussed in a meeting yesterday in three months time or probably about 100 to one at best and having something that’s automatically going to take those things.
Anthony perl: (00:13:23) Tee it up with the with the actual notes and of course the if if you want to to the actual recording that is just huge and it makes such a difference to the day-to-day operations of things, tell me I I want to go more into the back story in the future as well of Laxis, but I’m I’m intrigued to find out from you how many how many people have you got using the tool at the moment.
Anthony perl: (00:13:54) Because I know I found it.
Anthony perl: (00:13:56) And I I found it originally when I was on App Sumo.
Anthony perl: (00:14:00) Which if anyone who doesn’t know App Sumo you please check it out.
Anthony perl: (00:14:04) You can.
Anthony perl: (00:14:05) All the apps in the world are there.
Anthony perl: (00:14:06) I found I spoke.
Anthony perl: (00:14:07) I know someone who actually has bought 200 plus apps from there, which is a little bit over the top.
Anthony perl: (00:14:12) I don’t think you’d ever use that many.
Anthony perl: (00:14:14) But but I found LEXIS when I was at the time looking for more or less a transcribing service And to save me a bit of time from that because people would often ask me, I I literally had and other people would remember this.
Anthony perl: (00:14:27) I literally had in meetings that I have with clients and we would record them and then someone would say, could you type up some notes from that meeting.
Anthony perl: (00:14:39) And so I would get my assistant to sit down and literally type up an hour’s worth of meeting and put it into that.
Anthony perl: (00:14:45) So that in itself was the initial starting point for me.
Anthony perl: (00:14:49) So it is to places like at Sumo where you boosted that growth and what sort of numbers have you got using the tool at the moment?
Eric Xiao: (00:14:58) Right now we have over 25,000 active customers using Nexus and Absuma is definitely one of the drivers for growth for sure.
Eric Xiao: (00:15:09) While as a major driver like our partnership with online meeting platform is for example, our app is featured in Zoom, App Store system, web App Store, Chrome store, but those are like our major drivers as well.
Eric Xiao: (00:15:21) And we also have affiliate program and the referral program.
Eric Xiao: (00:15:24) Customers can refer Lexus to other friends and get the rack share.
Eric Xiao: (00:15:29) Obviously those are the major drivers of our success so far.
Anthony perl: (00:15:33) Fantastic.
Anthony perl: (00:15:33) Well, we’re we will, we’re jumping to the end of the show but we’ve still we’ve got plenty of ground to cover.
Anthony perl: (00:15:38) But we’ll definitely make available links and how people can can get Laxis for themselves.
Anthony perl: (00:15:50) Hope you’ve been enjoying the conversation so far.
